So I have been at this blogging thing for a little over a week now. I’ve written about the joys of spontaneous dance parties, the simple pleasures of an unexpected chocolate treat on the way home from school, and the beauty of a real brown bag lunch. Sounds like a pretty charmed life, right? Not exactly. This has actually been one of the tougher parenting weeks that I can remember. Both at school and home the kids are struggling to find their way. Tears, tantrums and tailspins have seemed to dominate our household. However, I am reminded of why I set out on this journey in the first place…to find out how taking one moment to connect with our kids may truly change everything. In the sea of tears and even a couple of shouting matches (not our finer displays of communication), we had our beautiful connecting moments. Had they not been there it would have really been a miserable week. I’m grateful for those moments and look forward to them getting me through both the storms and calm waters ahead.
